Recap
Tom Murphy reports from Aggborough…
A much improved Marine earned a point against Kidderminster Harriers away from home.
The Mariners now join four other teams with 10 points towards the bottom of the table.
Despite being a goalless draw both sides had several chances to win the game throughout the encounter.
Marine had the best of these in the first half when Owen Robinson came close from a free kick.
The 21 year old forced a brilliant save from keeper Christian Dibble after seven minutes.
Neil Young’s side continued to put pressure on Harriers, James Butler came close when his header glanced wide of the target.
In the latter end of the half Kidderminster began to pose more of a threat.
Two headed efforts from Ashley Hemmings and captain Amari Morgan-Smith were the best of the home side’s chances before the interval.
Marine started the second half well, with substitute Finlay Sinclair Smith causing early trouble in the final third for Harriers.
The forward had a golden opportunity to put his team ahead in the 63th minute when he couldn’t get a shot out of his feet after bursting free of his defender. Dibble was able to rush out and make a solid save to keep the scores level.
Both Kidderminster and Marine continued to create chances, but like past games this season, The Mariners were unable to convert their opportunities.
Substitute Adam Thomas saw a near post glancing header come back off the crossbar from a corner, with Harriers also seeing a cross / shot bounce off the bar at the other end as the match entered the final stages.
Regan Griffiths just missed the target in the 86th minute when he made space on the edge of the area after a lovely turn, this was Marine’s last opportunity to take all three points.
Despite missed chances, a solid defensive display ensured a clean sheet and a great point away from home for Young’s team.
Marine now return home after a spell of away matches where they face Scarborough Athletic at the MTA this Saturday.
