Marine FC are delighted to announce that defender Matty Waters has agreed a new deal to remain with the club for the 2024/25 season.
Waters joined in January 2024 and became a huge part of the Mariners’ successful push for promotion from the NPL.
The left-back made 18 appearances across the second half of the season scoring three goals, including our memorable Goal of the Season winner at home to Worksop Town.
On signing his new deal, Matty said: “Since the moment I came to the club I have enjoyed every minute of it, the support we get from the fans is unbelievable and I truly feel they helped get us the promotion.
“It was a no brainer for me really, the club is only going in one direction and with my experience at this level I can play a good part in establishing ourselves in the division.
“My aims personally are to play as many games as possible and contribute as much as I can. As a team we will be hoping to establish ourselves as a competitive NLN outfit and know from what we have in this team we will be able to do just that, and of course we all will be hoping for another FA Cup run the club is so well known for.”
Manager Neil Young said: “Matty did well for us last year after arriving in January and can play in a couple of positions.
“Nobody will forget his goal against Worksop.
“His technical qualities for a full-back are exceptional and we have spoken about the areas we need to develop.
“He has played lots of games at this level and for the first time in a while after a terrible injury he will be able to do a full pre-season.”
