MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS EVENING

In Partnership with Body and Mind First Aid…

Marine Football Club are delighted to welcome Body & Mind First Aid to the Executive Club and welcome everybody, individuals, and businesses to an event to raise awareness for Mental Health on Friday, 18th September.

An email should be sent to james@marinefc.com to register for the event.

Body & Mind First Aid Training was set up by John Barry and Danny Leicester, both British Army veterans who have served in Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Body & Mind First Aid Training was formed because they believe there is gap between the resources available and the people who needed it most; the stigma surrounding mental health and the lack of understanding is holding too many people back. This must be addressed and is something John and Danny at Body & Mind First Aid Training aim to do!

Their main aim is to tackle the stigma surrounding mental health head on and bring about positive change in the mindset of the masses. They also want to support members of the community by carrying out Mental Health First Aid courses, First Aid courses and open evenings, during which they will encourage people to start that all important conversation.

This, they feel, is the biggest barrier which is preventing people from getting the help they need. Mental Health is something which affects all of us and with Covid 19 this will only have been compounded. Help is out there and they are bringing it to your community. It’s not only CPR that saves lives!!!

Body & Mind First Aid Training are having their first event on Friday 18th September 6.30pm-8pm at Marine Football Club. Anybody and everybody from the surrounding area is welcome. This may include people who suffer from mental health issues, anybody who knows somebody who suffers from mental health issues, ex-forces veterans and anybody else from the community who wants to find out more.

The event is free, and tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. John & Danny will present Body & Mind first aid training and people can share their stories. This will become a monthly event and it is hoped that this will become a vital community resource for supporting people with mental health issues locally.

John Barry & Danny Leicester, founders of Body & Mind First Aid Training, said

“We are really excited to be in partnership with Marine FC. Their desire to reach out to, and help their community is amazing and something we want to be a part of and also enhance. We look forward to meeting as many people as possible and making a positive change in the community alongside Marine FC.”

James Leary, Marine CEO added:

“I am delighted that John and Danny have come on board. Mental Health especially post-Covid is a massive issue and we look forward to supporting as many people as possible locally. I would encourage as many people as possible to attend this first event.
