Vanarama National League North Marine FC is delighted to confirm that after almost three years of searching for land to build a new stadium, the club have this week signed an option agreement to purchase a plot of land in L23 subject to planning and funding.
This is a huge milestone for the football club after a search which has seen Marine explore c. 30 sites within the local area. Full club members are to be invited to an Extraordinary General Meeting in January to hear of the location, the plans in detail and to consider approval for the club’s officials to continue to pursue this opportunity.
Once the members have considered and hopefully approved this, the full plans will be announced publicly.
James Leary, CEO, said: “This is a really key milestone we have hit as a football club. It has taken a lot of frustration, excitement, meetings, calls and hard work from the Club’s officials to get to this stage. I would like to thank our professional team who have assisted with legals and the stadium designs and also the landowner and their advisors for their support.
There are 3 main stages to making it happen (1) Securing land (2) Planning and (3) Funding. We are relieved to have now completed the first hurdle however in 2025 we will focus on Funding and Planning. If we can’t achieve either then the build won’t happen so it is critical everybody continues to support the club so we give ourselves the best chance to achieve what was considered the impossible. For the avoidance of doubt the intention is for the existing site at the Marine Travel Arena to be retained as a Community Football Hub.
Anyone who can assist with funding please get in touch with me direct at ceo@marinefc.com.”
