Marine travelled to Chorley with hopes of getting back to winning ways after their nine match unbeaten streak came to an end last week. However, the spoils were shared in Lancashire after an entertaining 0-0 draw.
The game started with a quick tempo, however, the first half produced few chances for either side.
The hosts had the first chance to take the lead through their top scoring defender, Mark Ellis in the 12th minute. He found himself with a free header from a free kick but it ended up being a comfortable save for Marine goalkeeper, Max Metcalfe.
The best chance of the half fell to Finlay Sinclair-Smith for the visitors, five minutes before the break. The winger won the ball back in his own half and drove quickly at the Chorley defence, shifting the ball onto his left foot but his shot was straight at Chorley goalkeeper, Matty Urwin.
The second half started in a similar way with end to end action, with the Mariners looking the most likely to break the deadlock.
Their best chance came in the 56th minute after great hold up play by Bobby Grant, he was able to play Andy Scarisbrick through on goal but he was unable to beat Urwin to the ball.
There was a stoppage in play in the 60th minute due to an injury to Jack Hazlehurst and after the restart Chorley began piling on the pressure.
The best chance for the home side came in the 81st minute after the ball was swung in goalward catching Metcalfe out, Josh Wardle was on hand to clear the ball off the line.
Marine were able to defend well for the remainder of the game and secure a great point against play-off chasing opposition.
