Marine FC Women were narrowly defeated 4-3 by Ashton Town Ladies in the the Liverpool County F.A. Women’s Challenge Cup Final at Walton Hall Park.
Rachelle Douras-Hanlon’s first half header gave Marine the lead, but Ashton equalised and only some great saves by Gemma Parker-Sheridan kept the score level at half-time.
After the break, Ashton scored three goals in quick succession, but Marine fought back and goals by Jessica Moore and Megan Howard brought the score to 4-3.
Marine pressed for an equaliser, but Ashton held on to complete an impressive League, League Cup and County Cup treble.
