Club saddened at passing of lifelong supporter…
All at Marine AFC are deeply saddened by the passing of former Mayor of Sefton and lifelong Mariner Anthony Hill.
Anthony was born in Birmingham and moved to Crosby when he was about 5 years old. He was sent to stay with an Aunt and Uncle and his uncle was a fan of Marine. He took Anthony to watch the matches and the rest is history.
In the 1950s he joined the young Liberals and politics became a major part of his life although his main profession was as a Solicitor. In 1987 he was elected to Sefton Council and served as a Victoria Ward Councillor for 25 years.
Following his marriage to Carol in 2007 they set up home on Moor Lane and following his retirement from the Council in 2012 enjoyed many holidays and cruises until his stroke in 2018.
Anthony’s funeral will take place at 12 noon on Monday 8th July at Thornton Crematorium, returning to Marine.
