MARINE 0-2 SPENNYMOOR TOWN

Tom Murphy reports from the MTA…

A clinical first half performance from Spennymoor Town ensured they claimed all three points against Marine with Rob Ramshaw grabbing both goals.

In the opening three minutes a quick break from the visitors saw them take the lead at the MTA. A lovely weighted through ball from Junior Mondal found Ramshaw who managed to get a toe on the ball and into the Marine net.

Spennymoor continued to pose a threat going forward and they grabbed a second in the 26th minute. Another through ball down the line found Ramshaw who just managed to fire the ball into the net despite Fraser Barnsley’s efforts.

The hosts showed no signs of a response and Spennymoor should have scored more in the first half if it wasn’t for some last ditch defending from Bobby Grant’s men on a handful of occasions, although Fin Sinclair-Smith sent a volley just over the bar after finding space on the left of the area.

Marine came out in the second half with some intent but they continued to struggle to create any chances despite an increase in intensity.

Moors themselves continued to look dangerous in the final third but a more positive defensive performance from Marine limited the away team to very few opportunities.

In a half with few chances, Finlay Sinclair Smith came closest but he could only see his effort deflected inches past the right post.

Ramshaw could have had his hat-trick if it wasn’t for some goalkeeping heroics from Barnsley in the final 10 minutes of the game.
