Marine 4-2 Worksop Town; Enterprise NLN; Saturday 14th March 2026
Tom Murphy reports from the MTA…
Marine responded brilliantly to their midweek loss against Macclesfield as they put four past Worksop Town at the MTA.
The Mariners were rewarded after a quick start in the 10th minute as Sam Fielding gave his side the lead.
After a block at the back from Worksop, the ball fell to the Marine number 25 who finished calmly at the back stick.
Having gone ahead, the home team continued to pose a threat going forward.
George Newell almost added a second but his strike from distance clipped the right hand side post.
Fielding went from hero to zero after he gave the ball away cheaply to Oliver Greaves who took it around McIntyre before slotting home the equaliser.
Marine were able to regain the lead in the second half after Finlay Sinclair Smith converted his kick from the penalty spot in the 55th minute.
Bobby Grant’s side then added a third just eight minutes later after Harry Huby played in Charlie Jolley who stayed composed and slotted home his ninth goal of the season in the league.
Declan Drysdale rose highest to nod home Marine’s fourth from close range after Leigh Whelan whipped it in from a corner.
Worksop were given a lifeline thanks to Lewis Whitham who was able to tap home from point blank range but the away team couldn’t cut the deficit entirely with Marine coming out victorious.
