Enterprise National League North side Marine AFC are delighted to announce the return of forward Charlie Jolley on a permanent deal on 1st July, following the expiry of his contract at AFC Fylde at the end of June.
The 25-year-old becomes Bobby Grant’s second new permanent addition of the summer, following the arrival of Sonny Hilton. The move sees Jolley return to the Marine Travel Arena after a highly successful loan spell from AFC Fylde last season.
Charlie progressed through the youth system at Wigan Athletic, turning professional with the Latics in 2019. He went on to feature for Wigan’s first team in both league and cup competitions, whilst also gaining valuable senior experience on loan at Curzon Ashton.
In January 2021, Jolley signed for Tranmere Rovers for an undisclosed fee. During his first full season at Prenton Park, he made 12 appearances and scored four goals – including a memorable last-minute winner in a 1-0 victory at Oldham Athletic in December 2021 – following a short loan spell with near-neighbours Chester FC. He then made the move to AFC Fylde in the summer of 2024, scoring nine goals in 54 appearances for the Coasters.
Marine fans will need no introduction to the forward, who originally joined the club on loan in November 2025. Charlie quickly became a fan favourite, making 25 appearances and scoring nine goals during his time here.
On securing Jolley’s signature on a permanent basis, Marine Manager Bobby Grant said:
“Charlie Jolley’s a player of immense quality and it shows the direction and the ambition of the football club that we can now add him to an already incredible group of players at this level.
“The fact that we can add Charlie to our attacking options shows the ambition of this football club. And Charlie’s bought into it, as have all the other players. I have no doubt that getting a good pre-season under our belt, under Charlie’s belt, he’ll score us the goals we need.
“He’s operated higher, so he knows what it takes to get there. He wants to play for Marine Football Club, he wants to play for me, he wants to play for these fans. It’s an absolutely massive signing for the football club, and I look forward to working closely with Charlie and taking the club in the direction that we all want it to go.”
