National League North side Marine Football Club is thrilled to confirm that highly coveted 17-year-old striker James Potter has signed a contract with the club.
The agreement secures the highly rated forward’s future at the Marine Travel Arena, rewarding his outstanding development and hard work on the pitch.
Potter, who has impressed coaching staff and supporters alike with his clinical finishing, pace, and maturity beyond his years, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects to emerge from our youth ranks in recent times. His commitment is a massive boost as we continue to build a squad capable of challenging at the top end of the table.
A proud product of the Marine Academy, James’s rapid ascent saw him graduate to the senior squad in December 2025. He wasted no time making an immediate impact on the senior stage, marking his debut with the opening goal in our Liverpool Senior Cup tie against Burscough. Seamlessly adapting to the physical demands of first-team football, the dynamic forward went on to make 28 appearances across all competitions, returning an impressive 6 goals by the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Manager Bobby Grant said: “I am delighted that young Potter has committed his future to the football club; he’s a massive part of what we’re doing here. He was born to score goals, as everyone has seen, and I look forward to developing him into a top striker, because that’s what he is going to be.
“He has a really bright future, but he also understands that he has a lot of work to do. He’s got to get his head down, continue progressing, and listen to the right people. If he does that, then he will go on to have a fantastic career for sure.”
