ALAN FAVAGER

Club saddened by passing of former centre half…

All at Marine AFC are saddened at the passing of Alan Favager on 10th March.

Alan played for Marine for almost 10 years (between around 1959-69), in 455 games, scoring 34 goals and was the Captain and Centre Half. He also won Player of the Year.

His most remembered goal was against Dagenham in the 1967-68 FA Amateur Cup, a 3,000 gate at Rossett Park seeing Alan’s 90th minute header send the 3rd Round tie in to extra time.

He told reporters: “There was no one on me at all and when Alan (Wolfe) centred it looked as big as a medicine ball.”

We send our deepest sympathies to son Mark and family at this sad time.
