Jack Tierney joins Marine

Enterprise National League North Marine AFC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Jack Tierney.

The 20-year-old departed Everton this summer after coming through the youth system at Finch Farm.

The centre-back strengthens Marine’s options following the departure of Patrick Gamble earlier this week.

On joining Marine, Jack said: “I’m made up to be here with it being such a big club. I’ve really enjoyed my time so far in training and have been impressed by the demands and high standards set on the pitch by both the players and the manager.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be given a chance and now it’s over to me to go and repay that and to try and push on and play as many games as I can this season.

“As for the team, obviously the aim is to climb up the table, be consistent and be a tough team to beat.”

Manager Bobby Grant added: “Jack is a player who has come in the last week and really impressed in training, so we are happy to get him signed up and in the squad for tomorrow.

“We all know how big of a miss James Butler is in that position and with Josh Wardle being the only fully-fit centre-back at the club, Jack gives us more strength in that position being a natural centre-back.”
