JOSH WARDLE SIGNS NEW CONTRACT

Club captain commits for 2023-24…

Marine AFC are delighted to confirm that Josh Wardle has signed a new contract for the forthcoming season.

Central defender Josh, 26, joined the Mariners in summer 2022 from Witton Albion and quickly established himself as a key member of Neil Young’s team, making 45 appearances with 2 goals.

Neil Young said:

“In his first season with us he was excellent for us as a player and a Captain.

I think alongside the other Centre Backs we have at the club it really strengthens that area on the pitch but also gives quality, experience and that character we have been looking for.

It’s great that we have been able to retain Josh at the club for the new season because there was interest from National North Clubs.”

Josh becomes the seventh signing to date, along with the two players already on contract for 2023-24:

Matty BROWN; Charley DOYLE, Chris DOYLE, Jack DUNN, Kyle HAYDE, Mark HOWARTH, Sol SOLOMON, Jonny SPITTLE, Josh WARDLE.

Further signings will be announced in due course.
