Kevin Bannon reports from the Marine Travel Arena…
A flurry of late goals saw Marine come from behind to defeat Morpeth Town.
The Mariners maintain their playoff charge as goals from Sol Solomon and Bobby Grant, either side of a Fin Sinclair-Smith penalty, saw them claim all three points after falling behind to Daniel Barlow’s strike.
A windy afternoon in Crosby saw both sides struggle to go close in a scrappy first half with Grant’s header off the bar being the closest either came to breaking the deadlock.
Sinclair-Smith then almost scored the opener, his curling effort just clipping the post, after cutting in from the left wing.
Barlow put the visitors ahead after the interval, his strike crashing off the woodwork, and after some hesitation was eventually awarded by the assistant referee.
Marine responded with three goals in the final twelve minutes to win the game, firstly Solomon’s low effort from the edge of the box neatly finding the bottom corner.
Two minutes later Grant was fouled by Jeff Henderson inside the area and Sinclair-Smith calmly stepped up to slot into the left-hand corner.
Grant then sealed the three points for the Mariners, seizing onto a loose ball behind the defence and producing a thunderous finish past Dan Lowson.
Marine remain in fourth with three games remaining as their hunt for promotion continues.
