Following our recent promotion to The National League North and in line with our attempts to continue to develop the infrastucture and capabilities of the football club to reach the highest levels, on and off the pitch, Marine Football Club is proud to announce the launch of our Football Media course, in partnership with Access Sport College.
The club has had a fantastic relationship with the college since joining forces two years ago to further develop our Football and Education Academy and we wish to use this opportunity to not only further build our education offer in the area but also to help local young people and fans become a part of the club whilst forging a career in Football Media.
The course is open to students aged 16-19 who are interested in studying Media in an immersive Football environment. The course is delivered over two years and students will work towards a BTEC Level 3 extended diploma in Media studies; equivalent to 3 A-Levels. Students will develop their skills in areas such as photography, graphic design, podcast, radio and TV production and Social Media.
Our CEO, James Leary, had this to say about the programme and its objectives:
“This programme has been designed to give students an excellent learning provision combined with second-to-none real work experience developing their media skills for a National League football club. This will take a number of forms including videoing of matches, radio commentary, match reporting and social media updates amongst others. This will give students a great start into the world of sports media.”
Access Sport College Director Gary Judge, spoke more about the course itself by saying; “This is an industry which is growing by the day. Millions of people watch Football and consider it as their passion but very few actually get the opportunity to work in Football. This course is a genuine opportunity for young people to formalise their passion whilst gaining qualifications and experience in a real Football environment. I’m really excited to be supporting the club whilst giving opportunities to local young people”.
Whilst the course is proposed to start in 2025, the club and College are keen to speak to any interested young people who wish to be involved with the club and join the course, immediately. Applications are welcome from students aged 15-19 (Year 10 upwards).
There is also a “one year” option for any students who have studied at sixth form or college already but wish to develop their knowledge and skills in this field.
Students or any interested parents can apply immediately for further information via the following link: https://accesssport.ac.uk/course/sports-media/
