Four years ago Marine Football Club hosted Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup 3rd round. Since this match, the club has grown exponentially. £800,000 has been invested into the club with a new 3G pitch and renovation of the bars and function rooms.
As a result of the momentum and improvements, attendances have increased from 350 average to 1,400 average. The club has won the Liverpool Senior Cup twice, had 2 promotions and is now in the National League North for the first time in its history.
Marine Football Club is now embarking on a project to build a new stadium and community facility. In December, the club announced that after a 2.5 year search for land, it had signed an option agreement to purchase land subject to planning and funding. Designs have been completed in conjunction with local architect, Tony Diaz.
An official launch will take place at Marine Football Club on Monday 3rd February with 2 events – a media event between 4pm-5.30pm and a season ticket holder only event from 6-7.30pm.
At the media event, CEO James Leary will present the plans to the media followed by an open Q&A. All interested parties should email secretary@marinefc.com to confirm attendance. A teams link will also be available.
All season ticket holders are then invited to attend at 6pm, where again a similar presentation along with a Q&A will be held. All season ticket holders must bring their season tickets and present it on entry to the Carlsberg Suite.
James Leary said “This is a really ambitious project to safeguard the future of Marine Football Club. It will set the club up for the next 100+ years and create a fit for purpose stadium to provide for the increased fanbase and growth plans.
Sefton is an area massively lacking in community facilities and this project will create an incredible community benefit facility, to include a community hub, community 3G pitch, education facilities, Health Hub, gym and limited accommodation.
Despite the amount of progress that has been made though the project is still a long way from being realised. The backing of the council through the planning process and the huge amount of funding required to complete the project are the two remaining obstacles that must be overcome.
It is essential that anyone who can assist in particular with funding of the stadium or investment into the club now steps forward by emailing ceo@marinefc.com to join the journey and help the club realise its ambitions.
Additional community consultations will take place in future months and announcements will be made in due course.
