Marine are pleased to announce that midfielder Steve Irwin has signed forms to return to the first team squad.
Midfielder Steve left the club at the curtailment of the 2019/20 season to take up an offer of work having made 61 starts plus four sub appearances for the Mariners, with six goals to his name.
Manager Neil Young commented;
“Steve got in touch about coming back in training with us this week, which he has done, and we reached agreement in terms of a process going forward to integrate him within the squad over the next few weeks. Steve was excellent when he was last here and we obviously at that time wanted him to stay but he had a work opportunity that he couldn’t turn down.
His fitness levels are good and he doesn’t believe it will take him long to get back up to speed, so at this stage of the season it was a no-brainer to bring him back in.”

In further squad news, defender Alex McNally has signed on dual-registration terms with Burscough in order to acquire playing time.
