Marine FC is pleased to announce the signing, on loan until mid-January, of Southport striker George Newell.
Supporters will remember George’s impressive previous loan spell with the Mariners in December 2019, when he scored five goals in just six starts plus one appearance as a substitute.
Manager Neil Young commented;
“We already know how good a player George is as he has been with us previously on loan a few years back when returning from injury and was excellent. George has been out for around 10 months with a bad injury. His mentality and sheer will to want to play football has brought him back sooner than most thought and it was great to see him hit the winning penalty for Southport on Tuesday night.
It will take him a few weeks to get fully up to speed and match sharpness but once he does he will done really well for us in a time when games are coming thick and fast. I would like to thank Liam and Southport for allowing George to come out on loan to us and he will go straight into the squad for Saturday’s game at Leek Town.”
