Marine FC is pleased to announce an improvement in its football structure with the appointment of a new Head of Scouting to support the manager in driving forward talent identification and recruitment.
Ian Johnson, who has an affinity with the club having played for and temporarily managed the first team, will take on the role and said of his appointment;
“I am really looking forward to re-joining Marine and working alongside the staff again. Once the manager offered me this role I obviously said yes straight away. I’ve helped out a couple of times in the dugout recently so to be back involved officially is brilliant. I’m looking forward to getting going and the club is moving in the right direction.”
Marine Manager Neil Young commented;
“Ian was someone who was here when I arrived over three years ago, and after having a chat with him I asked him to stay within our management team which is not always the case when a new manager arrives. Ian has done really well for me and I didn’t want to lose him to Stalybridge when we did but I fully understood why he took that opportunity.
However, I have been developing this new role now for a period of time as per our future strategy, and it has taken longer than I hoped as I have been looking to recruit the right person who has a great work ethic, understands our work intensity, has a good understanding of players, but more importantly for me is someone I trust implicitly and Ian ticks all of those boxes. It is great to have him back on board.”
