Les Quine

Member and long standing supporter passes away…

The club are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Les Quine at the age of 92.

Club joint Treasurer Mark Prescott has provided the following tribute:

“We are saddened to learn of the passing of longstanding supporter and member Les Quine.

Les and his son Eric began supporting Marine in the 1970s. For many years they travelled to home and away games by means of a vintage motorbike and sidecar combination which was eventually replaced by a Reliant Robin.

Though by nature a quiet and thoughtful man, at games Les took delight in giving vocal support to the team while subjecting opposition players, especially defenders, to a variety of critical comments.

Les was always keen to support the club’s fundraising efforts, such as match ball sponsorship, and all the members of the Quine family were enrolled as participants in the Golden Letter Draw.

Though in recent seasons he was unable to attend many games, he continued to follow the club’s fortunes with interest.

All at Marine extend their heartfelt condolences to Les’s family at this sad time.”
