Adam Yates reports from the MTA…
King’s Lynn battled to a 1-0 win against Marine thanks to an excellent Sam Walker free kick.
It gives the Linnets their second win on the bounce but sends Marine to the bottom of an albeit early, National League North league table.
The first half was not without its moments but shots on target were unbecoming.
Linnet Josh Crane lobbed Luke Hutchinson within the first minute and hit the post.
Dylan Crowe managed to get the ball one step further in the net but the flag was up a second earlier for offside.
For Marine, who up until today had scored once in their opening three matches were privy to only half chances by Fin Sinclair-Smith, Adam Thomas and Kallan Murphy.
The second half began in the exact way with a key Kings Lynn chance ending in the hitting of woodwork, this time via Josh Hmami but Marine survived once more.
A feisty affair ensued as the home fans repeatedly felt that their side were not getting decisions from referee, Robert Claussen. This spilled over into the dugout as two Marine backroom staff were shown red cards and forced to vacate the bench.
With ten minutes remaining, Sam Walker deftly placed a beautiful 21-yard strike into the top corner to give their 100+ travelling fans something to cheer on the long way home. The Marine fans, players and staff however were incensed that the free kick was given in the first place as they felt that a foul had been committed against Kristi Montgomery, but the referee felt otherwise and the vast majority of the crowd made that known to the official when they left the field at full time.
