Rachel played for Liverpool in her early football career before moving to the United States for five years, playing varsity soccer for Alabama Crimson Tide and Pittsburgh Panthers, before moving back to England to join Everton in 2003 where she stayed for eleven seasons until 2014.

Since making her debut for the England Women’s team in 1997, Rachel won over 80 caps including playing in the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup and UEFA Women’s Euro 2009.

After retiring in 2015, Rachel moved into TV punditry and commentating working regularly for BT Sport, BBC Score, the Women’s Football Show, Football Focus and Final Score along with BBC 5Live.

She was a match commentator for BT Sport covering Marine’s 2nd round FA Cup home victory against Havant & Waterlooville in November 2020 progressing with a 120th minute winner to earn their epic game against Tottenham Hotspur in January 2021.

David Fairclough made his debut for Liverpool in 1975, making a total of 158 appearances, 61 as substitute and scoring 55 goals.

Affectionately known as “super-sub” David was renowned for scoring winning goals after coming off the bench in crucial games.

His most famous Liverpool goal came at Anfield in March 1977 as a substitute in a European Cup quarter final against the French side St Etienne, who led on the away goal rule when with just six minutes to go he held off two defenders to strike the decisive goal in front of a packed Anfield.

In his first season David scored seven goals in just 14 appearances to land Liverpool the League Championship including nine of the appearances as substitute.

David stayed at Liverpool until 1983 before moving to Swiss side FC Lucerne.

The event includes lasagne, garlic bread and salad meal.

Dress code is smart casual and the event closes at midnight.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said:

“We are delighted that Rachel and David have accepted our invitation to be our main guests for this fundraising event.

They both have strong connections with Marine; Rachel as Everton’s goalkeeper playing at the MTA for many years and commentating at our FA Cup game against Havant & Waterlooville and David who is actively involved in the fantastic work of Marine In The Community and the 4 Clubs 1 Goal project.

This is just our second fundraising evening since 2019 and we look forward to hearing from Rachel and David about their football and other interests.

Ticket sales will be limited and interested people should obtain their tickets via Kaizen as soon as possible.”
