Three in, one out as key members of last season’s squad commit to club…
Marine AFC are delighted to announce that Charley Doyle, Kyle Hayde and Jonny Spittle have signed new contracts for the 2023-24 season.
Charley, 24, made 45 appearances last season, scoring one goal and won the Manager’s Player of the Season Trophy.
21 year old left back Kyle rejoined the club from Warrington Rylands in February and has made a total of 33 appearances for Marine, with 2 goals.
Central defender Jonny, 28, scored one goal in his 37 games last season.
We also confirm that midfielder Andy Scarisbrick has decided not to accept the offer of a new contract, and has left the club.
Andy joined from Bootle in November, going on to make 17 appearances with 3 goals – we thank him for his time at the club and wish him well in his future career.
Manager Neil Young said:
“I’m made up the three lads have committed themselves to the club and were keen to build on what they achieved personally and as a team last season.
Jonny did really well in his first season at the club and was a big part of our defensive unit which kept so many clean sheets and I expect him to improve again this season.
Charley was my player of the year as he was consistent throughout the season and always gave everything he had, which is a quality that we are going to need if we are to progress.
Kyle has had a very difficult season with injuries and the lack of game time. I do believe though with a good pre-season and a bit of luck he will go on to be one of the best full backs in the league. He played a number of games last season with an injury and a fully fit Kyle will be a big asset to us.”
