Vanarama National League North Marine FC can confirm that Director of Football Neil Young has invoked the contractual option to keep James Butler at the club for the 2025/26 season.
The defender has been an outstanding performer particularly in the second half of the season for the Mariners, and a huge part of the team’s upturn in form.
The 25-year-old joined Marine last summer after an impressive spell at Warrington Rylands, and will remain at the MTA for next term.
On extending his stay, James said: “I’m happy to be staying at the club for another year. Hopefully we look to build on what was a successful last season, and I think we can really establish and cement ourselves as a National League club.”
Director of Football Neil Young added: “James really improved as the season went on and in the last part of the season was excellent, and was key in the run the team went on.”
