Marine have progressed to the final of the Liverpool County FA Senior Cup by beating North West Counties League Pilkington 4-0, an Everton XI 4-1 and last month in the semi-final Southport were also beaten 4-1 at the MTA with a hat trick by Britton and a penalty goal by Lussey.

Marine last won the Senior Cup in 2008 beating Liverpool with a late penalty from Peter Cumiskey.

Marine Chairman Paul Leary said:

“We are so pleased that the Liverpool County FA Senior Cup final is being played at such a prestigious venue, the DCBL Stadium, the home of Widnes Vikings. For both Runcorn Linnets and Marine fans, players, staff, and volunteers this will be a great occasion and is a fitting way to end the season for both clubs. It is 15 years since we last won the Senior Cup but it would be great to end what has been a very good season back in the NPL Premier Division with a cup final victory.”

Paul Leary added:

“We are to run a supporter’s coach to the final with adult fares costing £10 and concessions £5 with tickets also available on Kaizen. The coach will depart from College Road at 6:15pm.”
